Crafting order that avoids the soft-lock

  1. Scrap first (it is your weapon and your ice breaker).
  2. Repair the Kettle Bobby and Nutri-Pack-O-Mat on the train before spending plastic on anything else — the Cutter-before-kettle order is the forum's most common "did I soft-lock myself" post.
  3. Probe, then Wrench (the demo recipe wanted refined metal and aluminum; see resources).
  4. Cutter and Thumper when you have plastic and metal to spare; then module them at the workbench.
